About. |
Our town is just a country town, It's been tried and true,
Tho faded some from sands of time, Weathered from strife it's gone through, We don't know who to blame, For places standing bare, All too soon it came, The passing without acre. The trains that whistled through the night are long forgot, The stores, the bank and businesses too, Where things were sold and bought. Up our streets small feet have trod among the passing years, A lot of fun and laughter spent a few fleeting childish fears, Our town has seen the hoys of birth, Touched the finger prints of sorrow and pain, Felt the wintry blasts, the scorching heat, soothed with gentle rain, Our town is just a country town, It's small- yes, that's true, Where everyone knows everyone and what they think and do. We must stay united in a friendly sort of way, Modernizing and building for a future day, Our town isn't noted for fortune or for fame, But we folks enjoy living here, all the same. We like our town, we're proud of it and Shambaugh is the name. - Shelia Williams |
Shambaugh was laid out in 1881 as a depot on the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad. It was named for its founder, James Shambaugh.
